We are gearing up for 2015 Camp STAR!
Camp will be August 14 - 16th
Camp STAR accepting applications for August 2015
STAR Children’s Bereavement Services is now accepting applications for their annual Camp STAR (Sharing Together and Remembering). Camp STAR takes place at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay Michigan August 14-16th, 2015. This camp is an opportunity to share memories and honor loved ones who have died in a supportive atmosphere.
We are accepting applications for campers, age 8-17 who have lost a significant loved one. Each camper is matched with a camp buddy for the entire weekend. Activities include games and high energy fun like hiking and swimming interspersed with time to reflect and honor the person who has died using art, spoken word, music and journaling in age groups designed to help young people know that they are not alone in their grief.
We are also accepting application for camp buddies, age 19-27 for the weekend which includes a day long mandatory training session on August 13th at Bay Cliff. Buddies spend the weekend sharing and supporting the campers. Helpful traits include recognizing the importance of fun and play while cultivating open heartedness as we learn together how to support each other in our joy and in our sadness.
Further information is available at www.upcampstar.org or by calling 906-251-1602.
This even is limited to 25 campers and 25 buddies. Deadline for application if space is still available is July 15th, 2015.
Please see the resources tab on the website for camp applications.

Thank you to others we have recently received grants from to continue our worthwhile progamming for grieving children.
STAR Children's Bereavement Services has recently received grants of varrying amounts from Bell Auxillary, Marquette Breakfast Rotary and the Superior Health Foundation. We feel very blessed to have such amazing support from our community, so that we can continue to offer all of the services we provide to grieving children free of charge! We are always looking for new and innovative grant opportunities to apply for funding, so that we can continue to serve the vulnerable population of grieving children and families without having them think twice about being able to participate due to financial issues!
Thank you for visiting our website! We are happy you landed here. If you have questions or need help finding resources, please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org, we will do our very best to help you.
Camp STAR is the primary program of the Upper Peninsula Children's Bereavement Network (UPCBN) A 501(c)(3), not for profit organization that relies solely on donations. If you are able to make a donation we will be very grateful, as will the children who's life will be forever changed.
